Yeah, I have seen a couple Precison Strikes, (PS). Just as the name implies, it is a small concentrated attack from above. Its like a rain of lights from the heavens. Due to its damage radius being slighty bigger than that of an objective installation you are more like to see it performed near objective installations in skirmish matches due to the spawn points being located there as well as a higher concentrated number enemies.
However due to its size it is easy to avoid if you are paying attention. Before it a PS is performed a very distinctive sound is heard by those that are in the kill radius. It kind of sounds like the buzzer in a Basketball game but warped & shorter in lenght. The instant you hear that sound you need to run as the attack will commence within about 5 seconds. If you are playing Skirmish and near an obective you need to run. If you are playing ambush just pick a spot & run. You'll know when to stop running as the sound of explosions will have stopped... or you will be dead. Although PS's are very short & has a small kill radius it is very powerful as I know of nothing that can actually survive it. I am curious to know though if a friendly PS positioned right under an enemy Cestus would destroy or cause any damage to the Cestus as that would certainly end a game quickler if you were winning or give your team a better chance at winning if you were losing. I also don't know if friendly PS's are capable of killing friendlies, (Though).
As for performing a PS I don't know the specific requirements for earning one. I did earn one once while getting kills, (5 or more I think), without dying & setting squad objectives as the squad leader. However, the thing that pissed me off about earning it was that I died frustratingly trying to figure out how to perform it. So many people that never performed one kept telling me that it was peformed on the map screen like an objective, (as if I hadn't been performing squad orders & that wasn't the first thing that I tried to do). Well, "Supposedly", to perform an PS you have to be a squad leader & pull up the vehicle request screen by pressing "Right" on the D-pad."If earned", it will supposedly appear below "Dropship" at least to what I have been "told", lol.
Well hopefully this helped answer some of the questions that you have about PS's. Anyone else that knows the specifics for triggering a PS such as the exact number of kills without dying or squad objectives that need to be set or accomplished please post them. I too would like to know the answer to that. As for what an actually PS looks like here is an official CCP DUST 514 video skipped to the actual PS. Watch the full video afterwards as it actually quite impressive and NDA safe... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tASM8P6c16c&hd=1&t=1m14s |

Press the right d-pad to bring it up (like vehicles). Correct. You'll have a 4th option under "Dropship" in the Vehicles menu. The best way to farm WP is with a well balanced team with an healer, some DPS and a quick hacker, like a scout, to gain some hack points and a free dropship if you are lucky enough ;)
Sweeeet! Thats easier & better than what I thought was requred. I love it when DEVS answer questions & take the guessing and wondering out of equations. I strangely now have a sense that a greater number of Precision Strikes will be performed. DEATH FROM ABOVE!!!

Stefan Jacobs wrote:A game I just did I saw it say that it was available for Squad leaders, but the game ended just after. I was so sad. I take it the war points are the numbers that come up when we do stuff. Like killing someone +50, reviving +60 etc. Anyone know the exact number needed?
Lol. I don't think that number is actually neccessary to know as you can't see the total for your warpoints or the warpoints that your teammates have & I doupt a squad (with all mics) would actually want to call out each point as they earned them. In addition to that someone would actually have to consistently add all those numbers up as they were being spoken. I don't ever seeing all those requirement being met in one game... then again Eclipses, Blue Moons & Solar System Planetary Alignments do occur... and this is an EVE game, lol.
Just have fun & encourage you squad to be good team players. Regardless of wether or not you are a squad leader, when enough warpoints have been earned for to call in a PS everyone in the squad will recieve an on-screen notiification in a bright big orange box (hard to miss) that lets you know that a "Precision Strike" is availabe. If you are not the squad leader when that occurs let your squad leader know how to perform the PS as its not obvious. It actually seems kind of weird that the PS is list under vehicles unless you think of it as support instead of as a weapon. Honestly I think it would make more sense if it was accessed from the map instead... but unfortunately even though I had the option I haven't used it yet. Maybel it will make more sense after I have been successful with it.

Anyone know if Precision Strikes can do any damage to the Cestus if an an enemy is under it? Also are teammates hurt by friendly Precision Strikes or are they immune to it?
"The only thing that could end the fighting between the two opposing ground forces, if but for only a moment, was their unified fear against, "THE LIGHTS". Like the light used by a boy with a magnifying glass hovering over ants or that of an angry god, "THE LIGHTS" ended all caught before it. Without question or compassion its judgement was final." |

I disagree. Meeting the requirements necessary for conducting a Prescision Strike requires working with an effective group of players as opposed to 1 individual soley working for it. This gives the group of players a meaningful sense that they are actually a part of a team or squad. The precision strike is great reward for the squad especially if the squad leader is setting completeable objecitvies for his squad. If you looking for a game where one person earns strong fire power support mid-game you probably should got back to CoD. |

Not using a Precision Strike is actually considered to be bad etiquette as it is quite wasteful. |
